Recently I have been adding some goals at work that I want to achieve. Hopefully I get these done. I reckon I can.
But how can I be so sure. I’m sure because I set goals that are achievable. There are no outside factors to blame.
For the past 6 years I have been doing this at work. It’s been very rewarding. I get work to support me in my development which is of use to us both.
It’s all good. This has allowed me to find my way to Toastmasters. Here I am. This week I had the pleasure of attending leadership training. It was time constrained and very fast paced. Somethings resonated. It was around setting club goals that my old brain really got a work out.
I can clearly define goals for myself but how does one set up a club goal.
I suggest the rules still apply .
Set an achievable goal – bullet point targets and plan how to do it.
The difference is it is not I but we.
We need to work through this.
A goal could be we want to have a waiting list to become a member.
Let us run a Speechcraft Course at a company and get some income.
Lets all be on Pathways by a certain date.
What ever the goal may be – give it a name – plan it – do it
Get that goal – we can all enjoy the success.
The difference between I and We may seem vast, but it doesn’t have to be. We are in charge of this , we can choose to shape our future how we want.
So what’s your goal ? What are you doing to get there ? Are we helping?
Another pearler to think on ….
Why did you join Toastmasters?
What makes you stay?
I was also thinking of my role as a committee member is only for a year . I should be thinking long term with goals.
All good food for thought. Lets get some goals .
