What do you expect at a Boaters meeting held on April 1st?
Sergeant at Arms Sabine threatened us with an 80s theme (some were fooled). Danny then masqueraded as our Toastmaster (not). The real Toastmaster of the day, Terelle Hegarty, then proceeded to lead us in a well planned meeting flavoured with her agile wit. Grammarian of the day Rachel tuned-up our sentence structure followed by three awesome speeches.
Congratulation to Mo Yakubu for his outstanding icebreaker—“How did I end up here?” An interesting insight into his passions and visions. We’re glad you ended up at Boaters.
Experienced toastmaster Brent Ruru gave us mental images of him dancing and singing to the sounds of Olivia Newton John while doing the dusting wearing a leotard.
Longstanding member Kevin Cussack gave us an entertaining return to his icebreaker with stories of scary rats, croquet and regrets about that engagement ring he should have bought.
Alannah Vickery ended a great Table Topics session with stories of being fooled by a sibling and 3am bike rides.
Most importantly though a Boaters tradition was created. Called the Boaters Revolution (or maybe the Icebreakers Turn).
Details of the tradition are available upon attendance at Boaters meetings. See you there
