Tina Mackie as Toastmaster conducted an entertaining meeting with the theme “Marathons”
Speaker 1 was Jennifer Chowaniec with her speech titled “Don’t Make Unnecessary Journeys” when snow walloped Scotland and she had to try to help her parents when they were caught in utter gridlock on the roads.
Brett Snow, with his speech “Music and memories” took us through singing with the Chickens when his nephew auditioned for NZ’s Got Talent and convinced us theat Music is good for your heart.
We had a treat as Grant Beattie presented his Icebreaker titled “Family Fun and Adventure.” He shared his experience skiing in Japan, where he “popped the question” to Bridget with some bubbles to smooth the way. Luckily she said “yes” and he is now a happily married man.
Alannah Vickery, with her hilarious speech “Sausage Dogs Don’t Bend in the Middle” spoke of her Dashound Sadie who had a food obsession and a history of destroying picnics by opening her mouth and scooping up kfc and pizza in one strike.
The last speaker, John McVicar, with a speech titled “The Golf Tour” lead us through a 5 day, 5 courses Golf Tours which were eventful, fun and the standard of golf was generally poor.
