Toastmaster Sandra Smith pumped a little extra spring in our step with lessons on “Keeping balanced and equal”. Sandra took care to introduce each presenter with a quote, some with a bit of a bite. Here’s a taste of some of the morning’s best:
Brent Claire Ruru (Claire): “Men are not going to be equal outside the home until men are equal in it.
Alan Calder: “Life is a bicycle, to keep your balance you need to keep moving.
Helen McLeod: “Women who seek to be equal with men lack ambition.”
David Cooper lead the speakers roll today with a moving educational speech on the Syrian Refugee Crisis. Effective use of rhetorical questions and a balance
Helen Fowke (aka Helen MacDonald) shared one of the hidden benefits of Toastmasters – mining the wealth of private family anecdotes for speech ideas! “My Private Grandma” highlighted just a few of the insights Helen has gained and provided a vehicle for practicing body language.
The meeting Toastie went to Luiza Veraz for her witty Q&A take on the Icebreaker.
