A daunting theme. Gerald …and the predictive text just tried to make Gerald feral. Will the not too distant future be too much too soon.
Quote of the day “To be technically savvy you need a kid for that” . A classic one liner from Kevin. This made me remember a blind chap, I met on Aoraki Bound. He was doing an Outward Bound course. Seventy one years young and he teaches rest home folks how to use iPads. Did I mention he was blind.
Our Grammarian changed it up today also with a phrase not just one word.
“your present situation is not your final destination, the best is yet to come.”
Suddenly the optimist vs pessimist. A pessimist is never disappointed. Such a cop out.
Disruption prevailed as we had to set up in the bar. A bit of chaos thrown into our day. Can we make up time. Well being an optimist I’m sure we can.
I think today was a classic meeting the structure prevails and in the speeches today‘s chaos did not phase us much.
Louise reminded us of how and why we need to practice and also maybe do practice runs a video run through. Today I was happy to take a tip from last week and apply it today. No notes required to introduce a speaker. But maybe I need to read the agenda and not be in such a rush and add to the confusion.
Today I think Jacqui’s icebreaker 101 was classic speaking. We were brought into all aspects of Jacqui’s life and have a real sense of who she is. This is Toastmaster’s 101.
A real consequence of today was the loss of the projector. Sabine sharing all that good stuff with us. But the screen bought us and her too close to the machine to really deliver. What great work you and the team did. A huge $470 budget as well!
Another highlighter for me is the general evaluation of the meeting. The details that bind it all together. This methodology that binds us all together and make us look forward to the next meeting in the “not too distant future”
